Facts of Interest about Dick
• He was reared on the family dairy farm, being the third generation to raise tobacco and milk the cows. He began driving at the early age of seven, thanks to farm tractors with steering wheels that were taller than he! He invited the Lord into his life one evening, out by the barn, after attending a service at Bowman Park Camp.
• He loved sports throughout his life, his favorite was baseball and the Phillies his team; football and basketball followed close behind; played soccer in high school and often with his Moody students (shoes still in his closet!). The distant sound of NASCAR racing on the Bristol, TN, raceway, heard from their Tennessee home, never went unnoticed.
• He was involved in FFA and 4-H in high school, came home with many ribbons and raised a prize-winning steer.
• Though he was without formal training in music/voice, he sang many solos; duets with his wife; in high school and college choirs, professional groups, quartets (his favorite) and a variety of other musical groups. He directed some of those groups including church choirs and the Moody Heirmen.
• He enjoyed cats and photography (taking pictures was both a personal hobby and for Amish businesses).
• He was an avid car lover and his first auto rebuild project was a Volvo 544. He did auto refinishing, and while at Moody Aviation, designed and painted (painting was his passion) many aircraft while training students. Some of those planes were used in mission work all over the world.
• He was extremely handy with his hands (mechanically and structurally) designing, creating, building (even snow sculptures), repairing, drawing and painting. While at Moody, he uniquely designed and, along with his students, built a highly valued trailer for transporting crashed aircraft.
• He received honors and awards for many activities in his lifetime: raising animals, rebuilding and painting cars and aircraft, musical pursuits and in Shaklee.
• He attended market, sold cheese, took photos, designed labels, printed orders, provided transportation and much more for the local Amish.
• He dedicated the majority of his married years to selflessly, tirelessly and patiently caring for his wife (home-bound most of those years).
• He was a person naturally inclined to helping others in any way possible. Many a person can attest to the helping hand he never hesitated to extend. a Well done, thou good and faithful servant.a (Matthew 25:21 KJV)

L-Louise
In every way possible, L-Louise stood behind Dick in his endeavors, encouraging him and praying fervently for him. It was her desire for the Lord to be glorified and the Gospel to be spread through his works.
Among other talents, L-Louise had been an accomplished organist and used that gift to help others worship the Lord Jesus. In 1967, during her senior year at Houghton College, she and fellow student, Delight Hill, gave a piano-organ recital. (That Recital was put on a cassette tape and has now been digitized to play here on this web page. It is hoped that it will be a blessing to those who hear it.)

Dick's Music
While Dick was a teacher at Moody Aviation in Elizabethton, TN, an opportunity arose, when a new church was started in Johnson City, for him to become the volunteer Music Director of the church. He accepted that position and served in it for over 25 years.
Several members of the congregation wanted to participate in an adult choir. Dick was the director of that choir. This page is a small selection of choral music sung at the Johnson City Alliance Church featuring Dick as a solo or as part of a choir or quartet.
